The Society was formed in Dawson City in 1998. It is a non-profit organization of interested Dawson residents who are committed to offering alternative solutions to dispute and to the harm it causes.

It uses a set Conference process run by trained facilitators.  A Conference is sometimes used as an alternative to the formal justice process for adults and youth who have been charged, or may be charged, with a crime.

It is also used for non-justice type dispute resolution, and is available to the Robert Service School, as well as the community.

The Society has a part-time Coordinator and a number of trained facilitators and other volunteers.
